Holly East PhD Student, Geography, University of Exeter
Address: Geography, College of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Exeter, Amory Building, Rennes Drive, Exeter, EX4 4RJ. UK. Email: [email protected]
My research interests lie at the interface between geomorphology and ecology in coral reef systems. I am particularly interested in (1) reef island formation and dynamics; (2) the processes and pathways of reef sediment production, transport and storage; and (3) the application of GIS and remote sensing to improve understanding of reef environments. Supported by a NERC studentship, my PhD project is focused on the development and evolution of atoll rim islands in the Maldives Archipelago. The key objectives of this work are to establish a model of Maldivian rim island development; and to determine the degree of reef-reef island connectivity.
